It’s a lovely time of year to be curling up with some heartwarming reads, and here’s a lovely one for you.

I joined the blog tour for Rosie Green’s latest release, A Merry Little Christmas and I’m thrilled to share my thoughts with you here, SPOILER-FREE!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Festive excitement is in the air, the tree is sparkling on the village green and Christmas music is making even the most hardened cynic feel a little sentimental – but one Little Duck Pond Café favourite is feeling anything but romantic! Is this destined to be a festive season best forgotten? Or could Katja’s dream of a merry little Christmas possibly end up coming true?
The first thing I should say is that I am brand new to the Little Duck Pond Café series. However, this did not spoil my enjoyment of the story one bit. I shall definitely be going back to find out more about some more of the characters.
This story drops us into the run-up to Christmas in Sunnybrook, with Katja trying to enjoy her first festive season with Caleb after a rougher year than she wanted. There’s snow, village bustle, café/food comfort, and that “everyone knows everyone” small-town energy where it’s impossible to hide from your feelings (or your neighbours).
What I liked:
  • It’s genuinely well written. The pacing is smooth, the scenes are easy to sink into, and the dialogue has that “yep, I can hear these people” feel.
  • Peak cosy setting. The Little Duck Pond Café atmosphere is basically a character on its own, and the food descriptions are dangerous if you’re reading while hungry. Don’t say you weren’t warned!
  • Sweet, low-stress romance tone. Caleb is very much a steady presence throughout, and the relationship focus leans into warmth, reassurance, and choosing to trust again.
  • Side characters add charm. It has that series-style comfort where the wider cast makes the world feel lived-in and friendly. This is clearly why the series has been so successful.
The added bonus for me was the collection of recipes at the back. I’m no baker, but I may well be tempted to give some of these a try.
I’d highly recommend this book if you like small-town Christmas romance with cosy, comforting vibes and café/foodie settings. There is some light drama but nothing too grim, which came as a welcome relief for me after proofreading some rather dark psychological thrillers lately!
